Alcatatel - formerly a French company, one of the world's leading telecommunications equipment. The headquarters was in Paris.
Founded in 1898 in Alsace as Compagnie Générale d'Electricité (CGE). In April 2006, Alcatel announced that it would merge with its biggest competitor - the U.S. company Lucent Technologies.
The merger was December 1, 2006, the combined company was named Alcatel-Lucent
Chairman and CEO before the merger - Serge Churuk.
